Our Mission
Rootz & Reach is a nonprofit rooted in Black culture, centered on community activation and empowerment. We organize, gather, and activate by creating transformative experiences, resources, and programming that expose communities to new possibilities, nurture personal growth, and expand accessible support for those who have historically had the least access to it.
Our Vision
We envision a future where community remains rooted at the center of everything, where access, opportunity, and resources are matched with the tools to fully use them, and where real, authentic investment in Black community is not the exception, but the norm.
CEO & FOUNDER
Taylor Nicholson, LMSW
Taylor Nicholson is the Founder & CEO of Rootz & Reach, Inc., based in Atlanta, Georgia. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she grew up with a unique, front-row seat to diverse cultures and communities. With it, she developed a passion for serving people that took root early, shaped quietly by her own journey as a young Black woman navigating the world with ambition, curiosity and resilience.

That passion found direction early in her career as a Social Worker. Through over six years spent serving alongside people and organizations doing real work in real communities lit a fire she never looked back from. Today, as a Licensed Master Social Worker with a Nonprofit Management & Leadership Certification and over six years of director-level experience from Long Beach to Los Angeles to Atlanta, Taylor brings a perspective to this work that's rare in the social impact space.

What sets Rootz & Reach apart is not just what we do, it is the lens through which we do it. This organization is led by a licensed social worker whose training, background, and deep commitment to people shapes every decision made. That perspective changes everything, how services are designed, how events are experienced, how community is held. We bring an edge that is rare in the nonprofit and community engagement space: an organization equally fluent in impact and sustainability, that knows how to generate revenue and reinvest it back into the people it serves. Affordable, accessible, and culturally affirming are not aspirations; they are the foundation of how we do it.
What We Do
Empowering communities through culturally grounded programming, signature experiences, and strategic organizational partnerships. Every program and service is rooted in the same mission: to empower individuals, strengthen communities, and create lasting impact that goes far beyond a single moment.
Community & Youth Programming
Rootz & Reach designs culturally responsive, developmentally appropriate programming that fosters youth leadership, personal growth, and community connection. This isn't programming that keeps kids busy, it's programming designed to transform how young people see themselves, their community, and their power to create change.
Signature Experiences & Events
We host transformative community gatherings that center Black culture and human connection. Our curated experiences celebrate identity, inspire collective action, and affirm worth and belonging.
These are not networking events or social clubs. They are intentional spaces built to create authentic community. The joy and dignity people experience in these moments strengthen community bonds long after they conclude.
Partnership Activation & Community Experience Design
Rootz & Reach partners with corporations, foundations, and organizations to design and execute authentic community engagement. We move beyond performative gestures to build trust and create measurable impact. We also serve as a bridge for small nonprofits seeking corporate partnerships, connecting grassroots impact with corporate investment and support.
The Connection Point
Rootz & Reach serves as a trusted bridge between people who need support and the resources, organizations, and opportunities built to serve them. Receiving help should never be complicated, people deserve access without barriers, without confusion, and without having to figure it out alone.
30318 Community Rootz Initiative
Flagship Program
The 30318 Community Rootz Initiative grew out of noticing a gap. Youth in Atlanta were being served, but not always truly seen or heard. This Initiative focuses on creating space for youth to be connected to adults who love and support them. Programming gives them the exposure and access Black youth are too often denied — room to discover their passions, think bigger, and live in joy. Because every young person deserves to be seen, supported, and given room to thrive.

Rootz & Reach, Inc. is a state-approved nonprofit corporation in Georgia. Our 501(c)(3) determination is currently pending with the IRS. We are operating as a state-approved nonprofit with a legally seated board, working to build the foundation and fully functioning operating systems to move forward in soft launching our first program at the end of 2026.
